Welcome to the April 2021 edition of our 2CC newsletter, where we will fill you in on all of the latest happenings in our business and industry

Meet the Team - Simon Byers

1. What is your favourite holiday destination?
South Africa! By far the best place I have ever been. Went on a safari for four wonderful days. The adventure, the food and the people all made for a memorable trip...not many places you can go where a lion strolls into your camp!

2. What is the biggest challenge you have overcome?
At the start of my teens I moved from a small island community to Edinburgh. This was very challenging at a formative age and a lot of change, but it taught me a lot about the power of personality and how to get to know new people!

3. Little known fact?
I am Orcadian, born in Orkney and moved away when I was 12!

4. If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be, and why?
I would 100% be a dog! They are our best friends, understand our emotions and can understand 165 words which is more than any other you would get incredibly well looked after by your human owner - what's not to like?!

5. What is your favourite thing about Telecoms?
That it cannot be devalued and I reckon this has been proven by the pandemic. We have clients tell us daily the difference a flexible VoIP solution makes to them and their business or the impact of reliable connectivity. Telecoms makes a difference to businesses and we get to play a part in that!

6. What is your favourite mobile handset?
Nokia 3310. It was my first mobile, and who doesn't love a game of snake!

7. What is your favourite app on your phone?
WhatsApp - great for keeping in touch with everyone that you hold dear.

8. You are a new addition to a crayon box. What colour would you be, and why?
I would be purple - it is my favourite colour and is said to have a calming and stimulating effect. I would love to think that I could have this effect too.

9. If you were a shape, what shape would you be, and why?
I would be a hexagon. They symbolise coherence and you can never get too much of that.

10. If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and why?
Teleportation. No more waiting around - just click your fingers and boom! you are in Japan, then boom! back home for dinner. That's the dream!

The Great British Switch Off

The transition to full fibre has begun - are you ready?

By December 2025, the withdrawal from current voice lines (PSTN) will be complete, but the best thing for your business is to get ahead of the curve and keep moving with the times. PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network and it is the basis of what we commonly know as our traditional voice lines, it is a 140 year old system composed of 75 million miles of copper lines that help us to stay connected.

This is being replaced by the new full fibre lines to help keep up with the increasing demand for data and connectivity in the modern world. The new setup will outperform its predecessor in every way imaginable; It is faster, more reliable, more flexible, and quicker to install and repair.

Awards Appreciation

Last week we hosted our 'End of 2020 Awards Banquet', and it was certainly worth the wait. Although in these strange times we couldn't do our usual trip down to Luton to host with our partner companies, a small East Lothian gathering did just the trick.
It was an evening filled with smiles, laughter and immense appreciation for each member of our team in the office, and was a fantastic 'end' to 2020 (albeit a few months late!) Once again, a huge thank you to our entire team for their hard work, perseverance, passion, drive, and overall awesomeness over the last year. We are so grateful to be able to work with one another, whether this be virtually or in the office having as many laughs as we do,
The team received awards to celebrate their achievements for the year however the biggest award is you, our incredible customer base of valued business partners and friends. We are thankful to be able to help so many of your businesses thrive through reliable connectivity and we truly appreciate your business and partnership.

Customer Spotlight - Lovett Edinburgh

This month we decided to feature our friends at Lovett Edinburgh to showcase the great work that they do and the care given to their tenants. The company was set up in May 2020 and is located on Young Street, just off Charlotte Square. With his own huge personal achievements in the industry as well as Lovetts ever-growing success, here's what the sole Director, Ben Clark, had to say; "The reason I named it Lovett Edinburgh is after my late uncle who was a father figure to me and my brothers growing up. He sadly passed in our early teenage years. His name was Michael Lovett and naming the business Lovett Edinburgh is a tip of the hat to him and in honour of his side of the family that he leaves behind.

Over the last year, things on the business front could not have gone better. The portfolio value just reached £15 million in properties under management and I personally recently won the 'allAgents Best Letting Agent in Edinburgh' award."
